Jonathan Green is the second of seven children and was born in Gardens Corner, South Carolina. Raised in the black "Gullah" culture of the coastal Southeast, he grew up speaking the region's dialect--English mixed with grammar elements from several African languages.

Green started painting at an early age and his work is noted for their masterful use of color and exquisite portrayal of the human figure, evoke the semitropical atmosphere and gentle daily rhythms of his agrarian home.

As you go through this virtual field trip, keep notes on a piece of notebook paper. Try to answer these 2 questions:
1.What are the important things about Jonathan Green’s life and education?
2.Do you like his art work? Why or Why not?
