Materials Required: (Each child will require the materials listed below )

red circles with a hole in the top
black
crayon
1 24“ piece of any color
of yarn
Objective:
The
students will identify elements and principles of design.
The
students will use elements of design to create their necklace.
Procedure:
The
student will put the side of the circle with a hole at the top. Next he/she will draw a horizontal line across the circle
with a vertical line intersecting it. (Basically put a big T in the center of
the circle.) The student will color the head black and put dots on the body.
The teacher will string the bug and tie it into a necklace

Rubric:
Students
will receive one point for each item below.
Students will receive one point for each item completed on the rubric.

Animal Drawing

9”
x 12” piece of manilla or white paper
crayons
pencil
with eraser
Objective:
The
students will identify elements and principles of design.
The
students will use elements of design to create their animal drawing.
Procedure:
The
teacher will discuss and demonstrate how to draw an animal. The teacher will have the students identify the shapes and lines.
The teacher will do a directed drawing of a cat.
The
student will draw a circle for the head, and attach two lines for the neck. After that, the student will draw an oval for
the body, and an upside-down letter U for the tail. The student will add eyes, nose, mouth and whiskers, and the very last
thing is the legs. The teacher will have the students show where their cat is in the picture. The student will color his/her
picture with crayons.
This
project takes one or two weeks.
